I have been helping clients achieve their financial goals since 1981. I have an MBA in finance from the University of St. Thomas. Additionally, I successfully obtained the Certified Financial Planner ™ certification, which requires a comprehensive understanding of investments, insurance, retirement planning, taxes and estate planning. Also, I have earned the firm’s internal, professional designation of Accredited Wealth Manager (AWM). This academic program, sponsored by RBC Wealth Management and Michigan State University, builds on the fundamentals of Wealth Management with a focus on advanced knowledge of investment strategies, insurance, estate planning strategies, charitable giving, business succession solutions, and retirement planning for high net worth clients. I have been awarded the professional designation Accredited Investment Fiduciary™ (AIF®) from the Center for Fiduciary Studies which is associated with the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of business. Holders of the AIF® designation have completed a specialized program and successfully passed a comprehensive exam. Designees must demonstrate understanding and be able to articulate the legal, standard of care and regulatory environment surrounding investment fiduciaries.

They do this through a monthly magazine, numerous regional and national conferences, educational training and a comprehensive website (

I’m a Minnesotan… born, raised and trained. My wife Char is a professor at Minnesota State University Mankato and has earned  her PhD in Education from the University of Minnesota. Our menagerie includes two daughters, two son-in-laws, four grandsons, and two dogs. Giving back to the community has been a long-term commitment, and both my wife and I are on area charitable foundation advisory boards. Travel, trout streams and grouse coverts are my favorite distractions.
