My story
1967 is when the story really began. After leaving North American Life and Casualty, Edwin R. Johnson went to Woodward-Elwood as an equity research analyst before becoming a ‘stock broker’ for the same firm in 1968. From 1968 to 2018, Ed forged remarkable relationships with families and corporations throughout the Twin Cities and greater United States as an honest, trusted, and smart advisor guiding clients through the equity and fixed income markets. More than 30 years of Ed’s career was spent at RBC Dain.
After selling a business in 2000, son Dean Edwin Johnson joined Ed in 2001 at regional firm Piper Jaffray. Upon completing the requisite licensing and spending a year on ‘rookie row’, Dean and Ed formed the former team, Legacy Group, in 2002 and worked together as a team for the next 16 years before Ed’s retirement in May of 2018; completing a 50 year run in the financial advisory business. In addition to being lead portfolio manager on the former team, Legacy Group, Dean is a liaison between CES (Corporate and Executive Services) and public/privately held companies looking for guidance and execution in services such as 10b5-1 plan execution and Form 144 filing; in addition to other institutional services.
Today, that legacy continues to live on.
