My career started with Sutro & Company and I have been helping clients in achieving their financial goals since 1983. I graduated from San Jose State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. After completing the extensive coursework required I earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification. I have also earned the firm’s internal professional designation of Accredited Wealth Manager (AWM), a program offered by RBC Wealth Management and sponsored by the Estate and Wealth Strategies Institute of Michigan State University. By attaining the AWM designation I have demonstrated advanced knowledge of the firm’s wealth management process, concentrating in the areas of business and retirement planning, insurance solutions, charitable giving, advanced investment strategies and estate planning strategies. I recently earned the 2014 Consulting Group designation. The Consulting Groups are recognized for their achievement in building and maintaining consultative, fee-based businesses and discretionary, fee-based portfolio management practices, respectively.
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I currently reside in San Jose with my wife, Maria. As an active member of the community, I spent 11 years as a board member and vice chairman of Asian Americans for Community Involvement of Santa Clara County, a mental health and social service agency. In my free time I enjoy golf, tennis, hiking, cooking and traveling.
