George Gero

With over 50 years of investment experience, George, a distinguished member of RBC Wealth Management’s Chairman’s Council, is currently a Managing Director – Financial Advisor with RBC Wealth Management. Prior to RBC Wealth Management, George was a senior vice president of Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. until December of 2005. From 1981 to 2003, he held various positions with the futures division of Prudential Securities, Inc., most recently as a senior vice president of investments and as a first vice president.The Futures Industry Association inducted him to the Hall of Fame  2019.

George first served as a board member of the NYMEX Exchange in 1976 and has been a member of the COMEX Division since 1976, the American Stock Exchange since 1995, ICE Futures U.S. (formerly known as the Board of Trade of the City of New York or NYBOT) since 1984, the Philadelphia Stock Exchange since 2003, and NYMEX Exchange since 1966. He was the chairman of the adjudication committee, co-chairman of the arbitration committee, vice chairman of the membership committee, and co-vice chairman of the FCM advisory and political action committees. George also served on the bylaws, compliance review, and finance committees. George was the chairman of the Commodity Floor Brokers and Traders Association and is currently the member of Executive Committee of the International Precious Metals Institute. George is a member of the Financial Planning Association of New York, the Managed Funds Association and the Market Technicians Association,and was a senior conferring member on the ICE and NYMEX Exchanges. He previously served as a director of the New York Futures Exchange, the Commodity Clearing Corporation, and FINEX. 

George graduated from the New York University School of Commerce. He received his Investment Banking Certificate from the Investment Bankers Association at the Wharton School in 1965, and was an Associate of the Institute of Financial Accounting of Great Britain. In 2013, 2015 and 2018 George was named to the Financial Times Top 400 Advisor list. Formerly, he taught a commodity trading course at the New School. George is fluent in five languages.

George resides in New York City with his wife. They are both very involved with charitable organizations, especially Futures and Option for Kids and The Police Reserve Association of New York City. George is a member of the U.S. Chess Federation and the ARRL.

Christopher A Vollmer, AWM

Senior Vice President - Financial Advisor, Consulting Group


Chris began his career in 1999. After two years of training he moved to Gabriele, Hueglin & Cashman, a nationally recognized municipal bond firm in New York City which at the time was owned by Tucker Anthony. In 2002 RBC Wealth Management acquired Tucker Anthony. In that time Chris was instrumental in building one of the largest fixed income practices at the firm which included current team member Kevin Toolan. In 2010 Chris partnered with George Gero to form what is now known as The Gero-Vollmer Group.  In 2006 Chris was the recipient of the RBC Award of Excellence and in December 2015 was named Sr. Vice President as well as became a member of the firm's Chairman's Council. On Wall Street Magazine recognized Chris as one of Top 40 Under 40 Financial Advisors in the industry for 2016 and 2017. 

Chris resides in New York with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children. Chris enjoys traveling and playing sports in his free time. He and his wife are active participants in their Church, Trinity Baptist of NYC and local charities such as The Bowery Mission, HOPE NYC and Building Home for Heroes. 

Kevin G Toolan

Vice President - Senior Financial Associate


Kevin has been in the financial industry business for over 25 years.  He began his career in 1991 with PaineWebber Inc., where he worked as a variable rate demand note trader on the municipal bond short term desk. In 1998, he was hired by a nationally recognized investment team at a boutique firm named Gabriele, Hueglin & Cashman, a division of Tucker Anthony.  In 2002, that firm was acquired by RBC Wealth Management. His main responsibility was to work with all existing and potential clients to build them a customized wealth management plan with an emphasis on fixed income investing. Throughout his 16 years with the group, he became an integral part in the growth and success of the team’s business.  

After moving with the team to Morgan Stanley in 2011, Kevin returned to RBC Wealth Management after three years to work with the Gero / Vollmer Group.  The transition was an easy one for Kevin, he joined a team that shared his commitment to helping client’s obtain their investment goals.

Kevin graduated from Montclair State University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. He resides in Monmouth County, New Jersey with his wife, Patricia, and their daughter. Kevin is a sports enthusiast and enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

Barry Zischang, CFP®, CIMA®, CLU®, ChFC®

Vice President - Consultant


Following a long and successful career as a vice president/wealth strategist for RBC Wealth Management, Barry is now a wealth management consultant for the Gero-Vollmer Group. Barry helps clients prioritize their financial objectives, gathers information and determines strategies for complex financial and estate planning issues. 

Barry has significant experience in developing sophisticated estate planning strategies, using a range of techniques such as family trusts, charitable trusts, family limited partnerships and buy/sell agreements for the owners of closely held businesses. He also has expertise in developing sustainable retirement plans, and showing clients their best options for minimizing the risk of running out of money in retirement. 

In addition to his duties at the Gero-Vollmer Group, Barry does extensive public speaking on wealth management and estate planning topics. He has been a guest on MarketWatch, Bloomberg Television and CNN, where he discussed estate and financial planning issues. Barry has had numerous articles published in professional journals, including National Underwriter and Journal of Construction Accounting and Taxation. He is also the co-author of a book, “The Common Sense Guide to Estate Planning.” 

Barry has more than forty years of experience in the financial services industry. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehman College at the City University of New York. He holds multiple professional designations: Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®); Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®); CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™; and Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®). He also holds Series 7, 9, 10, 24, 63 and 65 securities licenses.

Sophia Mitacek

Senior Investment Associate


Sophia has over 36 years of experience in financial service industry.  She began her career at Tucker Anthony in 1979, where she remained until RBC Wealth Management acquired Tucker Anthony in 2003. Early in her tenure she became registered and gained hands on experience in many different venues, trading strategies and attained an understanding of the financial industry.  She holds the Series 7, 63 licenses.

Sophia lives in New Jersey with her husband, Robert.  She enjoys gardening, cooking, old time movies and having fun with her two grandchildren.
