John has been in the financial services industry for more than 35 years, coming to RBC Dain Rauscher as a financial consultant in 2000, before they became RBC Wealth Management. John attended the University of Minnesota with an emphasis on industrial relations and also earned a certificate in leadership for non-profit organizations from Century College. He has his Series 7 general securities registration and a Series 66 registration with FINRA as a registered investment advisor. John is also licensed to work with clients on solutions for accident and health, life, variable life insurance and variable annuities.
John has earned the professional designation of Accredited Wealth Manager. This designation demonstrates advanced knowledge of the firm’s wealth management process, concentrating in the areas of business and retirement planning, insurance solutions, charitable giving, advanced investment strategies, and estate planning strategies for individuals, their families and businesses. The program also provided John with high-level insight on how to collaborate with other professionals, such as attorneys or accountants, to create better, more unified wealth strategies. John is one of the founding members of the Lift Bridge Wealth Management Group of RBC Wealth Management.
John has four adult daughters (Jessica, Kristine, Emily and Carley) and lives in Stillwater with his wife, Joanne. He enjoys being active in the community and has served on various non-profit boards over the years. He currently serves as vice president of the Park Square Theatre board. His interests outside of work include alpine skiing, fishing and diving. In addition, John is an avid nature and wildlife photographer, and his photos have appeared on various websites, including Capture Minnesota, Capture Wisconsin, Ducks Unlimited, and National Geographic’s YourShot.
