Young began his career as a financial advisor in 1997. Prior to joining RBC Wealth Management, he worked for Merrill Lynch before joining The Prentice Group in 2012 to work closely with Tom and provide investment guidance to existing and prospective clients.
He has earned the Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designations. To earn these designations, Young had to complete numerous college-level courses as well as pass stringent examinations. To maintain them, he must attend regular educational events and complete dozens of continuing education credits annually.
The Certified Private Wealth Advisor® designation is the only advanced designation designed for financial advisors and consultants who work with high-net worth clients on the life cycle of wealth. The CPWA® marks identify those individuals who have met the experience requirements, have successfully completed coursework in advanced wealth management strategies and applied concepts at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and have passed a comprehensive examination covering the following areas: advanced tax planning, asset protection, executive compensation plans, stock options, tax-efficient portfolios, business planning, retirement planning, charitable planning and estate planning.
ChFC® holders have a proven high level of expertise in developing a comprehensive financial approach, protecting assets, mitigating risk, effective tax management, implementing strategies for privately held corporations, and retirement and estate planning. The CRPC® is awarded to those who focus on assisting people with their financial needs before and after retirement, covering the entire retirement planning process including multiple financial objectives, sources of retirement income, personal savings, employer-sponsored retirement plans, income taxes, retirement cash flow, asset management, estate planning and more. The combination of these two designations and extensive industry experience makes Young uniquely qualified to manage your wealth.
