I began my career in the investment business in 1986 in Calgary, Canada with what is now Bank of Montreal, Nesbitt Burns. I moved to San Diego in 1987 and began my career in earnest with Smith Barney.
In 2000, I joined a predecessor firm of Wells Fargo Advisors. In 2010, I went independent within the Wells Fargo umbrella of companies. In 2012 I transitioned to Raymond James, as an independent.
In 2016, I moved my practice to RBC Wealth Management. I decided to join the firm because I believed that it was a better fit for my clients and my business, within the new regulatory environment, freeing me up from branch management responsibilities to focus solely on clients.
My focus is retirement planning, and long-term growth investing. I also focus on income enhancement, with a goal of earning a double digit percentage income for my clients, with acceptable levels of risk.
I'm from Canada, so I'm an avid fan of my hometown Edmonton Oilers hockey team. It'll take a long time to recover from the recent loss in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. My sons Liam and Finn and I flew home to watch game four. Liam is at UCSB, Finn attends SDSU.
I lift weights with my two sons a few times a week. I do a lot of yoga. Im very involved in my local community on a volunteer basis. I've been known to enjoy a cigar on my front deck with my friends..
