Thomas has been a leader in the field of socially-responsible investing for more than 30 years. As Managing Director – Financial Advisor of the SRI Wealth Management Group at RBC Wealth Management, he consults on $1.7 billion of ESG-screened assets. In 1992, he founded As You Sow, a shareholder advocacy organization, which engages corporations on environmental, human/labor rights and corporate social responsibility initiatives. In 2014, Thomas was a featured guest on Bill Moyers and Company and discussed the Divest/Invest movement which he helped initiate with his clients. In 2013, he was named one of the Financial Times’ Top 400 Financial Advisors. He was also a featured speaker at the TedX Wall Street conference in 2012 and provided his expertise on ESG investing, which incorporates environmental, social and governance factors in institutional/individual client portfolio management to help lower risks and potentially improve returns. Thomas graduated from Duke University in 1980 with a B.A. in Political Science. He is a member of the advisory board at Center for Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) at Duke University’s Fuqua Business School. He is a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) and holds his Series 7 and Series 66 FINRA 

Catherine Chen, AWM, CIMA®

Catherine has significant corporate finance and institutional advisory experience and has been in the investment field since 1993. Before joining RBC, she was part of the SRI Wealth Management Group at Piper Jaffray for five years where she advised foundations, non-profit organizations and high net worth individuals on ESG investments. Prior to Piper Jaffray, Catherine worked with J.P. Morgan for almost seven years and was an investment banker covering the healthcare, natural resources and technology sectors. During her tenure at J.P. Morgan, Catherine advised clients on over $5 billion of M&A, project finance and equity and fixed income underwriting transactions. She was based in the New York, San Francisco, and Hong Kong offices, and has expertise in advising multi-national companies. Prior to that, she was an analyst in the International Banking Department of Chinatrust Commercial Bank in Taiwan, part of one of the largest conglomerates in Taiwan. She performed investment analysis for a variety of project finance transactions and assisted in establishing its Hong Kong office. 

Catherine is a Board Member of the East Bay Community Foundation, former Advisory Board member of the Women's Funding Network, and former Board member of the Children's Council of San Francisco, a non-profit childcare referral and resource center. She is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and has a BA in both Economics and History where she is a Cal Alumni Scholar. She is also a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®), a designation she earned from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and is a member of IMCA (Investment Management Consultants Association). She is Series 7 and 66 registered, and holds a California insurance license. Catherine is a member of the Social Investment Forum. She has sat on the firm’s Investment Advisory Group Council, is a member of the firm’s Senior Consulting Group, and is part of the President's Council in the firm (which is a distinction bestowed on high producing advisors in the firm). She is also a proud parent to two kids with her husband.

Nicole Collier

Complex Operations Manager

As a Senior Financial Associate with the SRI Wealth Management Group, Nicole is responsible for overall administration and operational issues related to client accounts. Her career has spanned over 20 years in various areas of financial administration and operations. In addition to working for RBC Wealth Management, she has worked at Wachovia Securities (now Wells Fargo), Seneca Capital, and a private financial planner. She holds the following securities licenses: 6, 7, 63, and 66. Nicole attended U.C. Davis with a focus in African American Studies and an emphasis in Socio-Economics.

Nicole is also a classically trained chef. She studied at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in San Francisco. When she is not cooking, Nicole enjoys exploring hiking trails with family and friends.

Tanvi Pradhan

Social Investment Associate, Social Investment Associate

Tanvi oversees Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) analysis for $1.8 billion in client assets for the SRI Wealth Management Group at RBC Wealth Management. She integrates sustainability, impact, and mission-related considerations into client portfolios. In addition, she helps direct marketing strategy, and assists with client acquisition. Tanvi is a voluntary member of RBC’s Community Leadership Council, and leads community engagement initiatives at RBC’s San Francisco office. Prior to RBC, Tanvi worked with the SF State University Foundation, where she advanced fossil fuel divestment strategies by developing a carbon footprint model for equity portfolios. She has presented this work at several industry and academic conferences. Tanvi started her career as a trader at Barclays Investment Bank in Hong Kong. During her time there, she was nominated to the firm’s Leadership Development Program, and volunteered for various initiatives, including a project to research impact investing opportunities in Asia for the Barclays Social Innovation Fund.

Tanvi earned an undergraduate degree in Engineering with Distinction from University of Pune, India, where she also won her department’s Most Outstanding Student award for all-round achievement. She has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, India, which was ranked as the best Masters in Management in Asia by Financial Times in 2014. Tanvi earned a second MBA from the San Francisco State University, U.S.A., where she took courses in sustainable business and graduated Bega Gamma Sigma. She was a top 10 global finalist at the Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investment Challenge 2015, which drew participation from 78 global schools. As President, Tanvi led the Net Impact graduate chapter at SFSU to a Gold ranking. During both her MBAs, she worked on several consulting projects with multinational corporations, social enterprises, and non-profit organizations.

In her free time, Tanvi enjoys advancing sustainability through her leadership position at the Net Impact San Francisco Professionals chapter. She winds down by reading fiction, playing badminton, and exploring new places with her husband and her dog.

Hector Maldonado

Senior Investment Associate

Hector joined the SRI Wealth Management Group in 2017 after a long, successful tenure with a high net worth international team at Smith Barney (and into the Morgan Stanley joint venture). He holds multiple FINRA registrations, including Series 7 & Series 3 (futures/commodities), and is currently preparing for the Certified Financial Planning CFP® designation. Hector is a graduate from the San Francisco State University, holds a California Real Estate License, and has a background in tax accounting. Hector contributes his vast experience in wealth management to the SRI team. On the weekends, Hector enjoys resistance training, cycling, DIY home improvements, reading, and playing fetch with his three doggies.

Gwenne Bacani

Gwenne Bacani recently joined RBC Wealth Management as an Investment Associate with over 20 years of experience in the banking, investment banking, securities brokerage, lending, real estate, and financial services industry.  He supports all investment related functions of the firm.

Previously, Gwenne worked for DeVoe & Company, LLC as a Senior Associate in Investment Banking where he managed the analytical, research, and technical aspects of the firm.  Prior to being an investment banker he was with Charles Schwab Advisor Services in San Francisco, where he served as a Strategic Sales Regional and Business Development Support Specialist for the Strategic Business Development group. During this 14-year period with Schwab, he provided strategic sales and service expertise to strategic acquiring firms, independent broker/dealers, turnkey asset management providers, and large national multi-office RIA firms with combined AUM of over $250B.

Gwenne holds an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in American Studies from San Jose State University and an MBA in Finance & Management from San Francisco State University.  He holds the following licenses and certification: FINRA Series 7 & 63; Residential Care Facility for the Elderly Administrator Certification.

Monishaa Saravanan

As a Client Associate with the SRI Wealth Management Group, Monishaa is responsible in providing operation and administrative support for the members of the team. Being the newest member of our team, Monishaa is a recent college graduate with a degree in Marketing from Drexel University. During her time in college, she has worked internationally in Dubai and Australia in human resources, project management, and marketing as well as on consulting projects for small businesses in Philadelphia Area helping them with their business requirements. She also actively volunteered at America Read America Counts, providing extra Math and English help to school children in the Philadelphia School District, was part of the Student Activity Fee Committee, Drexel Women in Business, and the American Marketing Association.

In her free time, Monishaa enjoys travelling, getting lost in a good book, and spending time with her friends, family and dog.
