Nate partnered with David Upin in 2019 to form the Upin Hoch Group. As a financial advisor, he works with clients to achieve their short and long-term financial goals by building comprehensive wealth plans, and using his investment expertise to implement the strategies that best suit each client.
Nate rejoined RBC Wealth Management in 2017 as a wealth management consultant, where he supported advisors and their clients in identifying strategies to help protect, convert and transfer wealth on comprehensive wealth management cases. Previously, he was an investment strategy analyst and assistant vice president at U.S. Bank on the asset allocation and portfolio analytics team. Before that, Nate was on RBC’s Portfolio Advisory Group – U.S. Equities, providing stock picks, asset allocation strategy and portfolio construction advice to the firm’s advisors. He has also held a position focused on research, trading and risk management at a U.S. equity hedge fund outside the Twin Cities, as well as a fixed income analytics position on the high yield credit team at Principal Financial Group.
Nate graduated from Grinnell College in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. During his time at Grinnell, Nate was a goalkeeper on the men’s soccer team, and was involved in the student investment club. Nate gives back to his alma mater by volunteering for the Grinnell Regional Admission Support Program (GRASP), where he represents Grinnell at local college fairs and interviews prospective students in the Twin Cities.
Nate lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Cara, and dog Varjo (Finnish for “Shadow”). In his free time, he loves playing soccer, traveling and working on his Finnish language skills.
