Kurt is a senior vice president – branch director and senior portfolio manager. As a senior portfolio manager, he helps clients pursue their objectives by managing, on a discretionary basis, his own personalized or defined strategies, which may incorporate individual stocks and bonds, RBC Wealth Management model portfolios, and third-party investment strategies.
He has been a financial advisor since 1989. Born in Watertown, Wisconsin, Kurt grew up in Minocqua and was educated at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Kurt earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees: one in economics, and the other in business administration with a finance emphasis, as well as a minor in German. Subsequent to his graduation from Carroll College, Kurt earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 1992, which is awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts™ conferred the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) to him in 1993. Kurt completed the Senior Financial Advisor’s Program at The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he completed the “Bond Analysis and Portfolio Management” course from the Executive Development Center of the University of Illinois, the “Institutional Options Program” from The Options Institute of the Chicago Board Options Exchange, as well the Merger & Acquisitions Program, “Creating Value Through Strategic Acquisitions and Alliances” from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Kurt believes strongly that everyone has a responsibility to give back to the community where they can. He has served on the board of directors of Ascension Wisconsin Health Care, as chairman of the board of Howard Young Health Care, on the board of directors of Ministry Health Care, and on the board of directors of Wiscraft Inc. He also served on the board of directors of the North Central Wisconsin Conservatory of the Arts, a forerunner to the present-day Campanile Center for the Arts in Minocqua.
Kurt believes in listening to his clients to fully understand them: their hopes, dreams, and goals. Once known, Kurt and his team utilize the vast resources of RBC Wealth Management and focus on helping these select clients, their families and their businesses manage all aspects of their financial lives. Kurt and the 1889 Wealth Management Group work with their clients to develop a plan to grow and preserve their wealth.
Kurt and his wife, Michelle, were married in 1990, and have three sons: Abbott, Carter, and Davis. When not working, Kurt enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, downhill skiing, and many other outdoor activities. He is also known as a die-hard fan of the Chicago Cubs.
