Why I became a financial advisor
In 2006, I began dipping my toes in the stock market. I made a few good purchases, and a lot of terrible ones. Over the years I began coaching friends on investing for fun. Some friends just wanted to hear my stock picks, while others were looking for ideas on how to structure their retirement savings.
Then the pandemic hit. Like so many other people, I baked and gardened and reconsidered my two-decade career in marketing and communications. Even though I had dreamt about being a writer since girlhood, I found helping people with their finances far more gratifying. It gave me the sense of purpose I had been looking for in life.
In September 2020, I began working toward CFP certification and in July 2022, I joined RBC Wealth Management and passed my Series 7, Series 65 & 63, and insurance exams.
Having grown up with an Air Force pilot for a dad, I moved around my whole life. As a result, my clients are all over the place. I also lived in Sweden for many years, so I often work with ex-pats and multi-nationals to balance their complex financial situations. I am passionate about helping widows and anyone who considers themselves financially challenged. I do my best to answer every question in laymen’s terms.
An avid sailor and former boat chef, I have manned lines on vessels through both the Panama and Welland canals and sailed thousands of sea miles. My love of sailing is what sealed the bond with my husband Greg. We met while dressed as pirates for Buccaneer’s Day on Catalina Island. Since then we have sailed throughout Florida and the Bahamas and we plan to one day cross the Atlantic.
We currently live in Palm Desert, California, but we have family and friends all over the world. At any one time you might run into us outside of Philly or in Los Angeles, Grand Rapids, Raleigh or Rockport.
I have an MFA from Bennington College in Vermont and a BA from Calvin College in Michigan.
