While many believe having all the answers is better than having questions, I believe having more questions than answers leads to better results. I enjoy the practice of financial wealth management and strive to provide a high standard of care to my clients. My enthusiasm for their financial wealth-being allows me to help them in a very personal and special way. There is such a thing as the perfect job and I have it.
My career began in October 1979 with a small bond firm in Minneapolis before I joined Blunt Ellis and Loewi, which became Kemper Securities, in March 1982. Between 1993 and 1998, I held various management positions at Hamilton Investments, which became Principal Financial Securities (PFS). I sat on the board of directors of PFS from 1997 to 1998. In 1998 I went back to advising clients and ultimately joined RBC Wealth Management in March 2008.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science degree in international political affairs with a concentration in Russian and Middle Eastern studies. I have RBC Wealth Management’s professional designation of Accredited Wealth Management (AWM); the AWM designation is geared toward meeting the specialized needs of individuals and builds on the fundamentals of wealth management for helping clients accumulate, protect, enjoy and transfer wealth. In addition, the program focuses on understanding and addressing the complex needs of clients in the areas of estate and trust planning services, insurance solutions, retirement planning, charitable giving, planning for business owners, and advanced investment strategies.
Community involvement has been a very important value to me in my career. In my career of over four decades I have held board of director positions with Saint Francis Children Center and the Milwaukee Center for Independence. I served as officer and treasurer for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancers (MACC) Fund. I was trustee and Parish Council President for Saint John Vianney – Brookfield Wisconsin, and most recently chair on the board of directors for the Catholic Community Foundation of Greater Milwaukee. Currently I’m involved in a mentoring program titled “Life Beyond College Sports” for members of the men’s tennis teams of both Marquette University and University of Wisconsin.
I live in Brookfield, Wisconsin, with my wife, Kathy, and our English Springer Spaniel, Lucy. I enjoy reading, classical music and traveling with Kathy. Together we have enjoyed destinations such as: Russia, Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, Cuba, Prague, Budapest, Pebble Beach, Napa Valley, the Grand Canyon and Sedona. In my free time, I enjoy collecting domestic red wines, searching for the perfect golf swing and cooking the next gourmet dinner for family and friends.
