I started in Wealth Management spring 2001, after selling my business in St. Paul, Minnesota where I was a managing partner. In 2002, I formed Legacy Group with my dad Edwin (Ed) Johnson at a Minneapolis based brokerage firm. We joined RBC Wealth Management in July of 2006. In 2018, Ed retired after 50 years in the business.
Ive successfully completed the Series 7, 31, and 66 as well as State of Minnesota insurance licenses. Ive also completed the Accredited Asset Management Specialist and Plan Distributions Specialist programs concentrated on Retirement Planning. July 2011 I obtained the Accredited Wealth Manger (AWM) designation from The Estate and Wealth Strategies Institute at Michigan State University.
My team works comprehensively with each client to thoughtfully create a financial plan. That plan allows us to identify, implement, monitor and maintain various investment silos; ultimately creating multiple buckets to draw from throughout retirement.
Born and raised in Minnesota, I graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth ('87) with degrees in English and Philosophy after studying Architecture at Arizona State University. Since my first trip in 1986, a passion outside of work is guiding paddlers and fishermen into Ontario Canada's Quetico Provincial Park and Minnesota's BWCAW. When not in the woods or on the water with my family and friends, you'll find me in the kitchen and at the grill looking for inventive ways to prepare that next meal. From 2004-2020, I was involved with the University of Minnesota's Ronald McDonald House - Midwest Chapter - Cooks for Kids program where I coordinated the procurement, pick-up, delivery and preparation of evening meals for the patients and families who lived at the house 4 times per year. In March of 2016, I accepted an appointment to sit on the Ronald McDonald House (Midwest Chapter) Investment Committee. I married my wife (and college soulmate) in September of 2013 and now resides in Grant, MN with boys Jack and Andrew.
