I am not excited to tell you that only 1.4% of charitable aid is directed toward women and girls. However, I AM excited to tell you we are working to move that needle. As co-chair of the Advisory Council at the Women’s Foundation of Boston, I am personally and professionally committed to the economic empowerment of women and girls. Last week, alongside fellow advisory council members including Josh Kraft and many other amazing people, we raised $2.8M at our annual Make Her Mark event, which was graciously held at Fenway Park thanks to board member Linda Henry. In one night we raised a record sum that will be directed to 40 different organizations committed to financially empowering the women and girls of greater Boston through financial literacy initiatives, STEM education and career training During the event, I was honored to moderate a conversation between myself, Michelle Obi (President & CEO of the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts), and Kelly Young (CEO of Acadian Asset Management). One of my favorite moments was when the group discussed our personal financial chain breakers. Women do not have a long history of financial independence & empowerment, nor do we have generations of strong female financial role models. For others, it was the woman sitting in that room who was breaking the chain. For me, it was my mother. She grew up in war ridden country, came to the US with a few crinkled dollars in her pocket, raised two children (me and my brothe...

The team had a great time celebrating Becky, our amazing Client Associate, also known as...the Bride! Becky is such a fabulous member of the team and we couldn’t be happier for her. We miss her terribly while she and her new hubby enjoy croissants and fromage (that's French for cheese:) on their honeymoon, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Congrats Becky!
