As senior portfolio manager and head of The Gapper Wealth Management Group at RBC Wealth Management in San Francisco, Doug focuses on providing global wealth management services to families and individual domestic and international clients. Doug specializes in global equity, fixed income (both municipal and taxable issues) and structured investments to specifically match clients’ long-term life goals. His nearly 30 years of experience, along with his Certified Investment Management Analyst designation (CIMA®) provides strong, intelligent and strategic thinking for the families and individuals that the team serves.
The Gapper Wealth Management Group personalizes portfolios and overall lifecycle management for a small number of family and individual clients by providing clients access to a broad spectrum of asset classes. This approach focuses on preservation of capital while striving to beat our financial benchmarks. Tax sensitivity, valuation, cash flow and liquidity are a key focus in our personalized wealth plans. As the team has learned over time, asset allocation to a given class needs to be meaningful, but also appropriate. With many years of experience, we realize that no clients are the same, and no “standard” allocation is appropriate for all.
Douglas began his Wall Street career in New York in 1989. Prior to joining RBC Wealth Management, he had successful tenures at J.P. Morgan, Oppenheimer, Hambrecht & Quist and Kidder Peabody.
Douglas received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance at the University of Michigan from the Ross School of Business and his MBA from The Kelley School at Indiana University in Bloomington. He passed the Series 3, 7, 65 and 66 securities exams. He also holds the CIMA® designation and health and life insurance licenses.
