I bring my experience as a financial advisor and past roles as an attorney and senior government official, together with RBC Wealth Management’s world-class resources, talent and capabilities, to provide trusted advice and solutions to my clients, with a focus on public and private company CEO’s and founders.
Prior to RBC, as the National Director – Family Offices at Alliance Bernstein, I served as the quarterback for significant families across the U.S. and pioneered their family office practice. I previously advised ultra-high net-worth clients at JP Morgan, Montgomery Securities and as president of Falcon Point Capital, a hedge fund management firm.
Previously, I practiced law for ten years as a law firm litigator and a corporate and government general counsel. I have also served in the administrations of four U.S. presidents, in senior roles in the Department of the Army, the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships, as chairman of the Presidio Trust in San Francisco and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Ambassador to Estonia. I have served on numerous investment committees and boards of trustees, including vice-chair of the University of Hawaii Foundation, National Park Foundation and Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

I am a regular speaker in the media and at global investment conferences. I am a member of the California State Bar and hold the Series 7, 65 and 63 securities licenses. I am a graduate of Saint Ignatius College Preparatory; University of California, Santa Barbara, University of San Francisco School of Law, and have a Defense Policy certificate from Harvard’s Kennedy School.
