Committed to our community

Hartford, Farmington and Glastonbury offices continue to build community

On Friday July 30, ten employees from the Hartford, Farmington and Glastonbury offices of the Hartford Complex participated in a Habitat For Humanity build in the north end of Hartford. Employees finished closets, painted interiors, built a tool shed and a side porch. This is the fifth habitat build that employees have participated in from the Greater Hartford offices.

Little Brook Farm

Over the weekend, our Great Barrington branch coordinated the pick-up and delivery of 100 bales of hay for Little Brook Farm, an animal sanctuary. The sanctuary has a group of rescue horses that will benefit greatly from the hay donation! The Great Barrington employees have been involved with Little Brook for a number of years. Thanks to all in our Great Barrington office for your community involvement and your volunteer efforts. Well done!

Dress-down Fridays

This summer, and for the past several years, Hartford employees are able to donate to dress casually on Fridays. The monies are donated to a local non-profit at the end of the summer months. This year, our Hartford office purchased books for kindergarten classes attending the Breakthrough Magnet South School in Hartford. With the teachers' guidance, we purchased and delivered 200 books to the school! The books were presented to the students during their Friday assembly. We are so proud to be able to encourage and support our local community.

Hartford, Farmington and Glastonbury branches help build community

Eleven colleagues from the Hartford, Farmington and Glastonbury, Connecticut branches recently participated in the Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity’s build-a-thon, a two-week build that helps the organization enclose all homes before winter. The RBC Wealth Management team helped do buildout preparation at the Habitat warehouse, which included building stairs, constructing walls and making and painting benches for porch furniture.

Toy Drive

The Hartford CT office hosted a toy drive for the Yale New Haven children’s Toy Closet Program. The goal of the Toy Closet Program is to provide each pediatric patient with a toy or small gift when they are discharged from the hospital, and toys are given out 365 days a year. Financial Advisor, Vin Crudo of the Hartford CT office, helped to make this donation possible. As the Yale New Haven Hospital is near and dear to his heart, his fellow Hartford CT colleagues were quick to offer help and support. We are proud to have made a donation to help make the lives of children that face scary hospital stays a little brighter.

Holiday season giving

The holidays are a time for giving and sharing the joy of the season. It is with great pleasure that our Hartford office chooses a partner annually to donate new toys and goods. In 2016, we participated in a Holiday Wishing Tree with the local St. Agnes Home, a family center that provides a supportive setting for young mothers and their infants. The mothers and their children living at the St. Agnes Home provided Holiday wishes written on tags hung on a wishing tree. Employees were able to deliver these gifts just in time for the Holiday season!

Helping nourish our community

Each year, our RBC Offices of Hartford & Glastonbury partner up and support the soup kitchen at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hartford, CT. The hard work put forth by our volunteers help prepare and serve dinner for 75-80 men. The Immaculate Conception Homeless Shelter provides a place to sleep, a healthy meal and access to clothing, showers, laundry, counseling, medical services and much more to the area’s homeless population. We started this annual tradition in 2012, and hope to continue to extend our services for many years to come.
