Helping mutual insurance companies
The Hensen Webb Group’s primary goal is to assist mutual insurance managers and boards in the design, implementation and management of cost-effective investment surplus portfolios that generate high levels of income and moderate growth that complies with regulatory statutes. In addition, the Hensen Webb Group focuses on education and delivers personal attention built upon decades of experience specializing in investment management for mutual insurance companies.
We are committed to offering personalized guidance in managing investment surplus
We will perform an initial and ongoing assessment of investment risk evaluation with every mutual. We take time to discuss the mission of surplus investing with clients, working to help them enjoy a growing stream of income and moderate surplus growth, to hopefully stabilize the effects of operating and underwriting results each year.
We will assist in creating an Investment Policy Statement that defines realistic, obtainable goals
Managers and their board members bear certain responsibilities as fiduciaries. We facilitate a group exercise that successfully creates guidelines to cover all aspects of managing surplus investments; from creating a menu of investment vehicles to be deployed and defining conservative investment strategies, to developing investing protocols that create time efficiency for all involved. Our team works closely with you to prepare a formal statement that complies with state regulations.
Our team is part of a bigger team
We see ourselves not only as surplus investment advisors, but also as collaborators with our mutual clients, their accounting professionals and their investment custodian. Each underwriting year brings different outcomes that require decisive actions, which we’ve seen best-achieved when all parties collaborate to ensure adequate liquidity to service insureds’ claims and then maximize tax considerations throughout the year, and especially at year-end, to protect and grow surplus.
We facilitate ongoing services:
- Annual reviews with management and the board of directors
- Investments 101” workshop offered to new managers
- Quarterly performance reporting
- A robust fixed income portfolio report
- Constant monitoring of the bond market landscape
- Frequent and proactive contact with the mutual manager, accounting professionals and custodians for quick response to all situations as they arise
