Sam has nearly 40 years of experience as a private client financial advisor. He started his career with Bear Stearns & Co. in New York City before moving to Oppenheimer & Co. In 1991, he moved to Alex Brown & Sons in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he met Frazier Caner. Together, while at Smith Barney, they formed The Highlander Group in 2002. In 2010, the team moved to Fieldpoint Private where they were joined by Nina Caufield in 2021 and Chris Martinez in 2022. In March of 2022, The Highlander Group joined RBC Wealth Management in Stamford, Connecticut.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, Sam also holds a life insurance license. In his free time, Sam has served on the state board for the Connecticut Audubon Society since 2018 and is the former president of the not-for-profit, Connecticut Venture Group. He enjoys playing racquet sports, ice hockey, gardening, hiking, traveling and reading. Sam lives in Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife, Beth. They have three adult daughters.
