At Hyperion Wealth Group, we believe financial confidence starts with understanding the landscape. Whether you're an experienced investor or simply trying to stay informed, having a clear, concise summary of market movements can help you feel more grounded in your strategy.

That's why we publish Market Week, a weekly snapshot of what happened in the markets, why it matters, and how it could impact your financial outlook.

Each week, we deliver an overview of market performance, economic developments, interest rate trends, and other financial insights.

What's in this week's update?

The week ending March 21, 2025 marked the first weekly gain for Wall Street in nearly a month. All five major benchmarks finished in the green, fueled by investor optimism following the Fed's announcement that it projects two rate cuts later this year.

  • The Dow Jones rose over 1% leading the way
  • All 11 sectors of the S&P 500 saw gains, especially financial, health care, and tech.
  • Gold hit another record high, up 1.2% for the week - it's 16th record high for the year.
  • Oil prices inched higher, while bond yields dipped, reflecting growing expectations for easing monetary policy.
  • Economic data was mixed, retail sales were soft, housing starts rose sharply, and unemployment claims ticked slightly higher but remained in a healthy range.

In short, markets reacted positively to what they love most, which is clarity from the Fed. With lingering inflation pressures and global uncertainty, the road ahead may still be bumpy.
