Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Joe Johnston has deep roots in the community he serves. He graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and a minor in Spanish and remains a passionate supporter of his alma mater.
Prior to joining RBC Wealth Management, Joe worked in commercial real estate with Weitzman, representing both tenants and landlords throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. There, he enjoyed helping entrepreneurs and business owners bring their visions to life by finding the right location to establish and grow their businesses.
While Joe officially joined RBC Wealth Management in 2023, his connection to the profession began long before that. Growing up around his father’s practice, he spent years observing the value of trusted relationships and personalized advice. Whether accompanying his father to the office, watching the markets each morning on CNBC, helping hand-deliver holiday gifts to clients, or getting to know many of the families his father has served for decades, Joseph developed an appreciation for the impact thoughtful financial guidance can have across generations.
Today, Joe works alongside his father serving high-net-worth families, business owners, and senior executives. He is especially passionate about helping the next generation of clients navigate their own financial journeys. From budgeting and investing to major life events such as marriage, raising children, career transitions, divorce, and the loss of loved ones, Joseph believes financial advice should support clients through every stage of life.
Joe has passed the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, Series 63, and Series 65 examinations.
Outside of the office, Joe enjoys spending as much time as possible with friends and family. Whether on the golf course, out fishing, taking photographs, or watching sports, he appreciate any opportunity to be outdoors or share experiences with people closest to him. Joe is a passionate sports fan, with his favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys, Arsenal FC, and his alma mater, the SMU Mustangs.
