Stephen’s career in the financial services industry began in October 1983. His father and older brother were industry veterans and served as positive role models for him. Their experiences and accomplishments inspired Stephen and made the choice to enter the industry appealing. Following in their footsteps provided a sense of guidance, mentorship and support as he pursued his own career in the financial services sector.
Prior to RBC Wealth Management, Stephen worked at IDS (now Ameriprise), US Bancorp Securities, Dain Rauscher, Prudential Securities and DA Davidson. He attended Washington State University, where he studied business. In addition, he passed the Series 7, 6, 22, 63 and 65 exams, along with SEI certification, and he is registered in 21 states and hold a State of Oregon insurance license.
As a financial advisor, his primary goals when working with clients is to understand their financial needs and objectives, provide personalized financial advice, help them develop a strategic wealth plan, guide them in making informed investment decisions and monitor their progress toward achieving their financial goals over time. Building trust, offering transparency and maintaining open communication are also crucial aspects of Stephen’s role as a financial advisor.
Stephen enjoys a meaningful life that includes a 40-year marriage with his wife, Sherri, two grown daughters (Lisa and Stephanie), five grandchildren, two dogs and a cat, as well as involvement in various activities from yard work and cycling to kayaking and church. Stephen and Sherri cherish time spent with friends and family, and they are dedicated supporters of the Greenhill Humane Society.
