Jim Smith is a Senior Vice President – Financial Advisor and Partner of The Shaeffer Wealth Advisory Group. Jim began his finance career in 1983, as an original member of the team.

Jim was born and raised in Baltimore, where he attended St. Paul’s School. He graduated from Ithaca College in 1976. Jim has served as a president of the Board of St. Paul’s School, as a trustee for the University of Maryland Research Fund, and as a board member of the Jefferson Park and Museum, the Keswick Foundation, and the Corporation for Widows and Orphans.

Jim is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Bridges Program at St. Paul’s School, which is committed to the long-term success of Baltimore City Youth. Jim was recently asked by the Baltimore Community Foundation to be an inaugural member of the Professional Advisor Recognition Society in appreciation of his work to advance and encourage charitable giving across Baltimore.

Jim resides in Ruxton with his wife, Maureen. They have three sons.

John Sutton is a Senior Vice President – Financial Advisor and partner of The Shaeffer Wealth Advisory Group. John began his career in 1996 at Wheat First Butcher Singer, and joined The Shaeffer Wealth Advisory Group in 1997. He was named as a financial advisor in 1999.

John is a Baltimore native. He graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Sciences in Economics. John has received RBC Wealth Management’s internal professional designation of Accredited Wealth Manager (AWM). The AWM program is designed to provide financial professionals with training in advanced wealth management strategies and is offered exclusively by RBC Wealth Management to a select group of its Financial Advisors. This advanced-level program builds on the fundamentals of wealth management with a focus on estate planning services, insurance solutions, advanced investment strategies, and business succession planning.

John volunteers as a member of the Coaches Council for the Bridges Program at St. Paul’s School. John resides in Kingsville with his wife, Linda. They have four children.

Bryon Epple is a Senior Vice President – Financial Advisor and Partner of The Shaeffer Wealth Advisory Group. Bryon has been a member of The Shaeffer Wealth Advisory Group since he began his finance career in 1997.

Bryon was born and raised in Baltimore. He graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Bryon continued his studies, earning his MBA with a concentration in corporate finance, from Loyola University of Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business.

In addition to working with individual clients, Bryon specializes in retirement plans, fiduciary responsibility, and estate planning strategies. He also serves as the team’s portfolio manager, leading both the growth and dividend income portfolios.

Bryon is a member of the Fallston Soccer Board, and also serves on the investment committees of several foundations and charitable organizations. Bryon lives in Forest Hill with his wife, Erica. He enjoys spending his time playing and coaching soccer with his two sons and his daughter.

Daniel Petro is a Senior Financial Associate with The Shaeffer Wealth Advisory Group. Dan began his career in 2007 with Ferris, Baker Watts now RBC Wealth Management.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM, Dan helps clients develop a goals-based financial plan, specific to their individual needs. He also works directly with the team’s retirement plan clients, providing analysis to plan sponsors and conducting education for plan participants. 

Dan was raised in Anne Arundel County. He graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 2007. Dan then passed the Series 7, Series 66 exams, and holds his  Maryland Life and Health Insurance licenses. He currently resides in Catonsville with his wife, Molly.

Matthew A. Citrano

Matt Citrano is a Registered Client Associate with The Shaeffer Wealth Advisory Group. He began his career at RBC Wealth Management in February of 2015. 

Matt is a Baltimore native, attending Calvert Hall College High School before obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from High Point University in 2013. In 2018, Matt was nominated to serve on RBC Wealth Management’s Client Associate Advisory Group.

Matt currently resides in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore.

Adam Boor

Adam Boor is a Client Associate and newest member with The Shaeffer Wealth Advisory Group.  He started his career in finance in 2016 before joining RBC Wealth Management in July of 2019.

Adam is a Western Maryland native, growing up in Cumberland where he attended Allegany High School.  He continued his studies graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Frostburg State University in 2014.  Adam is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration from LSU Shreveport.

Adam resides in Columbia with his wife, Breah.
