Steve has been providing strategic planning and investment advisory services to individuals and institutions for 30 years. After graduating from The University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance, he spent seven years at Southwest Business Corporation directing the investment management platform for a multi-billion-dollar financial institution. Since joining RBC Wealth Management in 2000, he has earned several financial designations. In 2001, Steve completed the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. In 2005, he earned the firm’s internal designation of Accredited Wealth Manager (AWM) sponsored by RBC and The Estate and Wealth Strategies Institute at Michigan State University. This credential demonstrates advanced knowledge of the firm’s wealth management process, concentrating in the areas of retirement planning, advanced investment strategies, insurance solutions, charitable giving, and estate and trust planning. In 2006, Steve earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation. In 2013, he was selected as a member of the inaugural Boot Camp for Investment Stewards at the US Military Academy at West Point, New York. Through this program, he served on the Global Leadership Council and received the Global Fiduciary Strategist (GFS) designation. In 2018, Steve graduated from the Securities Industry Institute (SII) three year executive program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
He is a member of the Senior Portfolio Director Group and has served on the firm’s Advisory Council since 2002, where he represents RBC’s Private Client Group for the Western United States. He also serves on RBC’s U.S. Investment Advisory Committee and is a member of the Investments and Wealth Institute, Fiduciary Institute 360, Global Leadership Council, and has served as an accredited investment counselor for The Evelyn Brust Financial Research and Education Foundation. Steve has twice been named Branch Director of the Year at RBC Wealth Management (U.S.). He’s also been recognized as one of Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors in the country in 2024 and 2025 and has been named a Forbes Best- In- State wealth advisor in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Outside of work, Steve stays active in his community through his service to several charitable organizations and as an investment partner in two local restaurants. He especially enjoys global travel with his family and watching his kids’ lacrosse and field hockey games from Austin to Boston.”
