Commitment to helping our clients thrive and communities prosper
Through the Baum Jackson Investment Group Charitable Foundation held at the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC), we have supported character-building experiences for young people (ages 5-21) with an emphasis on:
- Defining experiences - Often successful people reflect back on an important event or experience in their lives that set them on a positive path or altered their course. These may be ongoing programs, workshops, youth clubs, competitions, camps or field trips that expose youth to new perspectives and possibilities and unearth something about their own unique character.
- Education - We invest in formal or informal educational opportunities that nurture a child's potential, teach possibility-thinking, and instill a desire to achieve.
- Financial literacy - We invest in programs that teach young people the financial basics of budgeting, saving, borrowing, and investing. More than the financial tools, we are interested in programs that convey the essential concepts behind the tools (deferred gratification, compounding, opportunity costs, etc).
STAIR – Start the Adventure in Reading
The Baum Jackson Investment Group Charitable Foundation proudly supports STAIR. STAIR is a reading and mentoring program designed to provide early intervention for at-risk second grade students in Annapolis. Our donation provided 81 students with their own copy of Mirriam Webster Children’s Dictionary. Patti Baum and Margie Jackson delivered the dictionaries and participated in the reading and mentoring program by reading to area students.
RBC Blue Water Day 2016 and 2017
We participated with the Annapolis Branch in RBC's annual Blue Water Day. For two consecutive years we worked to improve the Contee Watershed Trail at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, MD. We removed overgrowth and invasive plants and mulched sections of the trail.
