Ken is a 52-year veteran of the investment industry, starting with Merrill Lynch in Omaha in 1972. He moved to Chiles, Heider & Co. in September of 1974 and was with the same firm for 39 years as Chiles, Heider & Co. was sold to Shearson/American Express, which later became Smith Barney and eventually Morgan Stanley. The Ferrarini Group joined RBC Wealth Management from Morgan Stanley in January of 2013.
Ken has been a member of the RBC’s Chairman’s or Director’s Council each year since he joined the firm, and his greatest satisfaction as a Financial Advisor is educating his clients about the markets, investing, and why compound interest has worked wonders as a wealth generator for decades. Ken is an experienced portfolio manager and takes great pride in customizing client portfolios in accordance with their risk tolerance, goals, and wishes. He became registered to be an investment manager in 1992 and is currently an RBC FOCUS Portfolio Manager.
Ken is originally from the Bronx, New York, but has been an Omaha resident since 1960. He is a 1966 graduate of Creighton Prep High School before moving on to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he graduated with a BA in Mathematics and minors in Actuarial Science and Economics.
Ken is active in the Omaha community and, among other things, was a board member of the Westside Schools Foundation for 22 years, including 4 years as president of the board. For many years, Ken served on the board of Project Harmony, and continues to serve on the finance committee. He has a passion for all sports, with a special emphasis on basketball and golf. Ken and his wife Susie have two children - Katy and Jim - and six grandchildren ranging from 10 years old to 18 years old.
