Background
Before entering the securities industry, David spent nine years as a professor at both Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He began his brokerage career at Paine Webber where he also served as manager of one of the local branch offices. He joined RBC Wealth Management in 1991.
Education
David holds a bachelor's degree from Brooklyn College, a master's degree from Florida State University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also studied in France where he received a diploma from the University of Paris at the Sorbonne. He taught English at a local lycée (high school) while studying in Paris.
Business achievements
Over the years, David has been very active in communicating his thoughts and ideas to the investment and business community. He has given many seminars, been invited to speak to many business and community groups, written articles for the local newspaper, and is often interviewed by the local press. David has hosted his own radio show, “Inside the Stock Market,” and was a panelist on the television program “Buy, Sell, or Hold," and appeared for many years on "Ask An Expert."
Community involvement
David was a public official for 25 years in the villages of Long Grove and Buffalo Grove. He was elected to the local school board for 8 years, and served the following 17 years as trustee and President of the Board of Trustees of the Long Grove Fire Protection District. A former professor at Northwestern and Purdue universities, Dr. Klein served on many different committees related to his public positions. David now serves on the Advisory Faculty of IPPAC, the Illinois Public Pension Advisory Committee. He has written several newspaper articles and has been a guest speaker at many yearly conventions of IPPAC for Fire and Police pension board members. IPPAC recently awarded David a memorable plaque “for his contributions to IPPAC and continuing education for pension fund trustees.” For many years, David has returned to the University of Illinois with other leaders in the business community to participate in a symposium on the opportunities for students in the business and financial world.
