Jim Jackson is a Managing Director with RBC Wealth Management. Prior to joining Tucker Anthony in 1998 Jim was a senior tax manager at Baker Newman & Noyes, L.L.C. (formerly KPMG Peat Marwick and Ernst & Young). As a tax professional Jim spent fifteen years providing services to medical professionals, closely held businesses and high wealth individuals. He has his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification, CERTIFIED INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT ANALYST certification and an ACCREDITED INVESTMENT FIDUCIARY designation. Jim’s current areas of professional service include investment portfolio management, personal financial planning, estate planning services and business retirement plan design consulting. Jim currently serves on the RBC Wealth Management Insurance Advisory Council and has in the past served on the RBC Wealth Management Retirement Plan Consulting Advisory Council and the RBC Wealth Management Investment Advisory Group Advisory Council.
Jim’s current community involvement is focused on environment study abroad education where he serves as a Trustee and Finance Committee Chair for the School for Field Studies. In the past Jim has also been highly involved in youth sports volunteering as a youth coach, booster officer and referee with youth soccer, hockey and basketball. Other community involvement has included Pine Tree Council – Boys Scouts of America as Past Treasurer, Endowment Committee Member, Executive Committee Member and Board Member, American Heart Association – Portland Division as a Past President, Common Good Ventures as a Past Board Member, First Universalist Church as a Past Treasurer, Endowment Committee Member and Board Member.
Jim received his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and his MBA from MIU in Fairfield, Iowa. Jim lives in Yarmouth, Maine with his wife Julie and has 3 adult sons. His personal interests include playing tennis, biking, sailing, paddle boarding, golf and snowboarding.
