Dave began his career as a Financial Advisor at RBC Wealth Management, joining his father, Frank Kelley, in May 1993. Dave was once a geological engineer, graduating from Montana Tech and accepting a job immediately following his graduation with Northern Engineering. He and his wife, Kat, moved around often to small mining communities for his career. While his work was fulfilling, it lacked a work-life balance. Dave’s father, Frank, invited him to join the financial services business, allowing him to spend more time at home with his family while enjoying all the recreational opportunities Montana has to offer.
He has passed the Series 7, 63 and 65 securities exams, and is licensed in life, disability, and variable insurance. Dave holds the firm’s internal designation of Accredited Wealth Manager and in 2020 earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation. Dave has a Bachelor of Science degree in geological engineering from Montana Tech. He was the previous Treasurer of TrailNet and is now a proud member of this community service group created to connect the city of Billings by building trails for recreation. Dave has also served as the Treasurer of Silver Run Ski Education Foundation, an alpine ski racing organization based in Red Lodge, Montana.
Dave was born in Cody, Wyoming, in 1964 and graduated from West High School in Billings. He and his wife have two daughters: Chelsey, the eldest and his business partner, and Mallory. They also have a labradoodle named Murdoch. Away from the office, Dave enjoys downhill skiing, cycling, kayaking and spending time with his family.
