Derek began his career in financial services in 2001 after retiring from the NFL. He is dedicated to assisting families, institutions, and current and former professional athletes by providing real-world insight into comprehensive wealth management. Derek works to create customized financial portfolios that can help preserve wealth and align with the long-term goals of his clients. Derek is a current member of the RBC Wealth Management Fixed Income Advisory Council.
Derek earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin and remains an active alumnus. He mentors University of Wisconsin-Madison student athletes through a summer internship program, and he has served as a director of the W Club Board. Derek is currently a director on the NFL Alumni Madison Chapter Caring for Kids Board, and an active supporter of Easter Seals, Gilda’s Club and American Family Children’s Hospital.
Derek resides in Middleton with his wife, Nina, and three children. He enjoys co-hosting a weekly radio show for ESPN Madison, “In the Trenches.”
