Phillip has been in the wealth management business since 1974, gaining experience in virtually all aspects of wealth and investment management. Prior to joining RBC Wealth Management in 2016, he worked at Morgan Stanley beginning in 2008, earning a designation as a senior portfolio manager and becoming a member of the prestigious Morgan Stanley President’s Council. Phillip has been recognized by Barron’s magazine as one of the top financial advisors in Texas every year since 2010. Phillip is a graduate of Texas Christian University, where he majored in finance, and of the American Institute of Banking in Dallas, Texas. 

As a person

A modern day renaissance man, Phillip is quick to point out that he is a slave of many passions, but a master of none. He is an avid amateur musician who loves to write music, play the guitar and sing. He also finds time to paint, compose poetry and pursue his new passion of flying. As a family man, Phillip enjoys spending time with his wife of over three decades, Rona, and their four children. He loves the outdoors, especially fishing the Texas Coast.

As a professional

After completing his graduate investment management degree at the University of Texas, John joined the Evergreen Group in 2011.   He takes great pride in providing continuity to the client relationships which Phillip has built over the past four decades.  While in graduate school, John interned at Dimensional Fund Advisors, a leading investment management firm with over $500 billion in assets. As one of the Evergreen Group’s Portfolio Managers, John is responsible for several of the team’s discretionary investment strategies including cash management, dividend & income, and a tactical ETF strategy.   He also handles due diligence, portfolio design, and implementation for portfolios of illiquid investments with allocations to private equity, private debt, and private real estate.   John completed the requirements to sit for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ examination and earned his CFP® certification in March 2011. In August 2014, he earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation. He holds a Bachelor of Business and Master of Business from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas - Austin and a Master of Science degree in personal financial planning from Kansas State University. 

As a person

John resides in San Antonio, Texas with his wife, Lindsey, their daughter, Lilah, their sons, Jack and James, and their French Brittany Spaniel, Gracie. John inherited his father’s love of the outdoors. Together, they have spent many afternoons on the salt flats around Rockport in search of speckled trout and redfish, or in the South Texas brush country hunting the elusive “Muy Grande.” John is also an avid golfer who has spent a great deal of time battling the pull hooks.

As a professional 

Greg joined the team as a financial advisor in 2005, having worked as an investment advisor at both Wachovia Securities and A.G. Edwards & Sons. He transitioned to Morgan Stanley with the team in 2008 before they joined RBC Wealth Management in 2016. ln 2011 he earned his CFP® certification after successfully completing the rigorous requirements of the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards, Inc. In 2018, he attained the title of First Vice President for The Evergreen Group at RBC. Greg is a graduate of the Stephen F. Austin State University, with a bachelor’s degree in management.

As a person 

If you are looking for Greg outside the office, you’ll probably find him and his wife Laura, at their daughters’ athletic events. An athlete in his own right, Greg also trains for the occasional half marathon or short triathlon. He stays actively involved in the Lufkin community. Greg is a graduate of Leadership Lufkin, a member of the Lufkin Lions Club and has served as a committee board member for the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Josh Zeleskey

Vice President - Financial Advisor


Long before Josh joined RBC in 2016, he began his finance career in 2001 by accepting an analysis position at First Bank of Conroe in the Houston market. He spent ten years at First Bank as a commercial lender and was the youngest person in the bank's history to be promoted to Vice President. In 2010 Josh accepted a position with BancorpSouth. This gave Josh and his family the opportunity to return to his home town of Lufkin Texas. After four years with Bancorp Josh joined The Evergreen Group in 2014 at Morgan Stanley. Josh holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi where he majored in finance. In 2012 Josh obtained a master’s degree in banking from Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. In 2018, he attained the title of Vice President for The Evergreen Group at RBC.



As a person

When Josh is not in the office, there is a good chance you can find him with his wife Misty at one of his three children’s sporting activities, either coaching or attending. In his own personal time, Josh is an avid but average golfer, hunter, surfer, skier and fisherman.  Josh also feels it’s very important to give back to his community. He currently serves on The Woodland Heights Hospital board and is President of Lufkin division of CASA.

Karen Shaw, CRPC®

With more than 20 years of financial service experience, Karen has worked for some of the top firms in the industry, including Neuberger Berman Private Asset Management, Southwest Securities and Merrill Lynch. She joined Morgan Stanley in 2012, and then moved with The Evergreen Group to RBC Wealth Management in 2016. She brings a wealth of experience and passion in wealth planning and client service to The Evergreen Group.
Karen was born and raised in the small East Texas town of Woodville. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1998 with a Bachelors of Business Administration in finance with a minor in management. She has passed the Series 7 and Series 66 securities exams, and holds her insurance license, as well as the Certified Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation.
Karen relocated to East Texas in 2005 to be closer to family. She has two daughters, Katie and Allie.

Bonnie McKinney

Senior Registered Client Associate


Bonnie, a Lufkin native, began her career at Morgan Stanley in 2012 as a service associate and branch manager assistant before she transitioned to RBC Wealth Management with the team in 2016. Bonnie thrives on interactions with clients as well as the day-to-day maintenance of their accounts. As the first point of contact with the team, she is passionate about making each client feel welcomed and valued. 

Bonnie is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology, specializing in human resources. She currently has her Series 7 and 66 securities licenses. When she and her husband, Andrew, aren’t cheering on her beloved Aggies, you can find her at the local dog park with her collie mix, Toula.
