John has been investing professionally and personally for more than 25 years. In 2003, he brought his team to RBC Wealth Management where his main role is to oversee the entire wealth management process for both individuals and institutions. As part of the Corporate Executive Services program, John is among a select group of advisors who work closely with RBC Capital Markets to provide high-level services to corporate clients and their executives. He also serves as a consultant to institutional retirement plans for larger firms. John also is a member of RBC Wealth Management’s Chairman’s Council, which recognizes the top 150 financial advisors in the firm.

From 1988 to 1993, John was a senior communications consultant for Bell Atlantic. He helped facilitate the integration of Bell Atlantic and Northern Telecom. After the merger of the two companies, he joined Bell Atlantic Meridian Systems. In 1993, John joined Kidder Peabody, a GE company, as a financial consultant. After PaineWebber bought Kidder Peabody, John stayed on to become senior vice president of investments. In fall 2000, John became an executive director at CIBC Oppenheimer. While there, he was a member of CIBC Round Table, the Wealth Management Panel, and the Chairman’s Council. Additionally, John was one of twelve members of the CIBC National Advisory Council. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance with a concentration in personal planning from Old Dominion University.

Carter Bidwick is the newest member of our team, joining The Gerold Group in August 2017. Carter recently completed RBC Wealth Management’s Associate Financial Advisor (AFA) program with John as his sponsor and mentor. In addition to supporting the team’s ongoing operations and research, Carter’s main area of focus will be the Corporate and Executive Services (CES) side of the business. The CES Group works alongside RBC Capital Markets, providing pre- and post-transactional planning for corporations and their executives. Prior to RBC, Carter worked as a project accountant at a commercial real estate firm in Washington D.C. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University while also playing infield for the Jumbos baseball team. Carter has passed the Series 7 and 66 exams. Born and raised in the D.C. area, Carter currently lives in Brookeville, Maryland, and enjoys coaching youth baseball in his free time.

Campbell is in charge of investment research and analysis, and works side-by-side with John on client portfolio construction, management and monitoring. Campbell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Since joining this team, Campbell earned the Charted Financial Analyst® designation by completing a rigorous self-study program covering a broad range of topics related to investment analysis and portfolio management. He has passed both the Series 7 and 66 exams. Campbell is also a member of the CFA Society of Washington, D.C.
