Bob is a managing director and founded The McCarthy Wealth Group to focus on the needs of executives, entrepreneurs, professional athletes, and their families. He began his extensive financial services career in New York City in 1989 and joined RBC Wealth Management in 2000. As a wealth manager, Bob, along with his partner Grant and associates Adrienne, Josh, and Ally, are members of RBC Private Wealth, an ensemble of global resources and customized advice, designed to meet the unique needs of high-net-worth clients. He is also a member of the Senior Portfolio Manager Group – Portfolio Focus, a group of selected advisors who have the experience, integrity and commitment to service to take full discretion over investment portfolios.

Bob holds the Accredited Wealth Manager (AWM) designation sponsored jointly by RBC and Michigan State University. The AWM designation is attained by advisors who focus on complex wealth management issues including wealth transfer, financial and estate planning, trust services and insurance. Bob earned a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University, has passed the Series 7, 6, and 65 exams, and maintains his insurance licenses.

Bob is a consistent member of RBC Wealth Management’s Chairman’s Council, an honor bestowed to the top 150 financial advisors in the firm, and in 2023 was named to the Premier Council. Bob has received recognition from national publications including the Financial Times Top 400 U.S.-based Financial Advisors in 2017 and 2020, a Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisor in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, a Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisor in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and AdvisorHub’s 150 Advisors To Watch (Over $1B) for 2024. The McCarthy Wealth Group was also named as a Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Management Team in 2024. Bob is active with numerous charitable organizations, especially those focused on education and junior golf.

A native of Spring Lake, New Jersey, Bob resides in the Raleigh area with his wife, Denise, and their four children. He enjoys spending time with his family in Hilton Head Island, watching the Villanova Wildcats, and playing golf.

Grant joined RBC Wealth Management in January 2021 as a financial advisor with The McCarthy Wealth Group. Grant began his career in 2015 at Bernstein Private Wealth Management in New York. He was selected to join the firm’s Advisor Training Program in 2017 and promoted to advisor in 2018. Grant partnered with a senior principal to co-run the New York office’s largest asset base, focusing on families, foundations, and multi-family office clients. In 2019, Grant joined SCS Financial, a multi-family office, as an advisor working with ultra-high-net worth families. His clients included athletes, entrepreneurs, executives and multigenerational families with complex estate and wealth planning needs.

Grant earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2019. He has developed a niche in tax-considerate portfolio management utilizing both public and private investments and considering both income taxes and wealth transfer (estate and gift) taxes. Like Bob, he has earned the senior portfolio manager title at RBC Wealth Management. Grant is also a member of the firm’s Alternative Investments Advisory Council, a select group of elite advisors across the U.S. who collaborate with RBC Wealth Management’s private investment research team and specialize in working with ultra-high-net worth clients. Grant has received recognition from national publications, including the Forbes Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors Best-In-State award in 2024 and 2025, and AdvisorHub’s Advisors to Watch: Over $1B award in 2025. He has also been featured in a Barron's article discussing financial considerations for college athletes .

Grant graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in finance with an investment management focus and a Bachelor of Science in accounting with a financial accounting focus. During his time at Virginia Tech, Grant was a member of the intercollegiate club golf team and the consumer sector portfolio manager for Virginia Tech SEED, one of the largest entirely student-managed equity portfolios in the country. Outside of the office, he enjoys golf, music, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family. Grant grew up in Frederick, MD and now resides in Raleigh with his wife, Lauren.
