At his core, Steve is a student of history. As the founder and leader of The Ross Group, Steve honors the legacy of his first employer, Ferris, Baker Watts, which was acquired by RBC in 2008. The advice and lessons learned at FBW have helped define his attitude to the markets and his team.
Over his 42-year career, Steve has become a trusted advisor to generations of families as they strive to meet their investment and financial goals. Committed to the framework of value investing, Steve has travelled to Omaha, Nebraska for 20+ years to attend the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting to see and hear from his idol, Warren Buffett.
Steve is a member of RBC Wealth Management’s Chairman’s Council, which recognizes the firm’s top 150 financial advisors, and served on RBC Wealth Management’s Equity Leader Advisory Council. Active in his community, Steve served on George Washington University’s Board of Trustees from 2006–2018. He also served for many years as a board member for the Washington, D.C.-based Kennedy Institute, serving children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Steve graduated with honors from George Washington University and has passed the Series 7, 63 and 66 securities exams and has attained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designation.
Steve grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and now resides in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife, Lori. They have two children, Jenna, and Andy. His hobbies include participating in sports, genealogy research, and providing free plumbing advice to friends, family, and clients.
