Working with a Certified Private Wealth Advisor®

High-net-worth individuals and families require a seasoned financial advisor who understands their sophisticated needs. Advisors with the Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) certification are trained with the latest, most advanced knowledge and techniques needed to serve clients with a minimum net worth of $5 million.

Advisors who earn the certification are prepared to identify and analyze challenges high-net-worth individuals face, and understand how to develop specific strategies to minimize taxes, monetize and protect assets, maximize growth and transfer wealth.

Education

To earn the CPWA designation, advisors complete a rigorous education program with the Investments & Wealth Institute™, requiring 100–250 hours of study to prepare for the qualifying exam. Coursework includes topics such as ethics, applied behavioral finance, tax strategies, risk management and a number of in-depth client focuses.

Ethics

The Institute sets standards and practices for the wealth management profession, and provides the credentials and tools required for financial professionals to best serve their clients. With its mission to ensure quality service to the public by developing and encouraging high standards in the profession, the organization broadens the public's understanding of investment management and private wealth services to promote and protect the interests of the profession.
