Tom began his career in the financial services industry in 1993 with Smith Barney in Portland, Oregon. He moved to Central Oregon in 2003 where he formed the Menefee Meagher Group at Smith Barney. While at Smith Barney, Tom was consistently recognized as a “President’s Council” producer, which is a distinction awarded to the top 20% of Smith Barney consultants nationally. Tom joined RBC Wealth Management in January of 2010. Born and raised in Portland, he attended Jesuit High School and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business/marketing. Tom has been very active in his local community through the years. He has been a coach for both Central Oregon Youth Basketball (COBO) and Bend Park and Recreation Youth Football. He also has served on the Board of the Bend Volunteer Corps which is the local AmeriCorps affiliate that recruits young adults to move to Bend to provide a year of service to local social service agencies. In addition, Tom currently is the Branch Director of the Portland office of RBC Wealth Management. He and his wife, Kristin, have three children. His family enjoys all of the many outdoor activities that Oregon has to offer.

Erik Tobiason, CFP®

Erik began his career in the financial services industry with Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor and senior portfolio manager. In 2016, he made the decision to move his business to RBC Wealth Management. 

After completing the required coursework at the College of Financial Planning, Erik received his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificate. The multi-year CFP® program entails in-depth courses, training, and comprehensive examinations in all areas of financial planning including investments, taxes, insurance, estate, and retirement planning. Erik earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physics from California Polytechnic State University and his MBA with a concentration in finances from Santa Clara University, graduating with honors. He is still involved with education, serving as an instructor at Central Oregon Community College Adult Education and he is a member of the Stable of Experts, which is a network within the Economic Development of Central Oregon organization. The Stable of Experts consists of highly accomplished, seasoned professionals who volunteer their expertise and guidance to help local companies grow.

John Menefee

Director - Institutional Sales


John began his career in the financial service industry in 1983 with Shearson Lehman Brothers, working in the municipal bond group involved with trading, underwriting and sales. Through a series of corporate buy-outs, he stayed with what ultimately became Smith Barney/Citigroup until he joined RBC Wealth Management in January of 2010. John expanded his institutional fixed income business in 1993 to include fixed income portfolio management for high net worth retail investors. He formed the Menefee Meagher Group with Tom Meagher in 2003, where he continues to focus on high-net- worth retail fixed income strategies. While at Smith Barney, John was consistently a “Chairman’s Council” producer, which is a distinction awarded annually to the top 5% of the sales force nationally. John graduated from Brentwood College School in Mill Bay B.C. in 1978 and the University of Washington in 1982 with a double major Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and history. John has lived in Bend, Oregon since 1996. He is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fly-fishing, hiking and skiing. He is also an accomplished mountaineer, having climbed — on more than one occasion — most of the major peaks in the Cascade Range and in southern Canada. John and his wife, Sheila, are busy with their six children.

David Bachofner

Senior Investment Associate


David joined the Menefee Meagher group in February of 2012. He started his financial career at UBS financial services before moving to RBC in 2009. David graduated from Linfield College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and minor in Economics while also playing four years of collegiate baseball. David was named a recipient of RBC Annual Award of Excellence. David holds the Series 7 and 66 licenses. In his free time David enjoys snowboarding, golfing, biking and hanging out with his wife Emily and dog Pepper.
